About This Project
A record of my U.S. State Highpointing journey.
What is this page?
This is a factual logbook for my U.S. State Highpointing journey. It tracks which peaks I’ve completed (or attempted), routes, dates, distance, elevation gain, climbing partners, photos, and memories.
What is highpointing?
“Highpointing” means visiting the highest natural point in each state. There are 50 state highpoints, ranging from easy roadside bumps to serious mountaineering objectives. For background, see Wikipedia and the Highpointers Club.
Who am I?
I’m Oliver (Ollie) Curtiss. I moved around a lot growing up, graduated from Caltech in 2015 in Applied & Computational Mathematics and Economics where I was President of Fleming House, played soccer and baseball, moved to NYC, fell in love with hiking and mountaineering, and now live in Boulder, CO with my beautiful wife.

How did this start?
Tired of the repetitive NYC social loop, I wanted something that felt alive and gave me a reason to train, like sports in college. I saw the infamously bad weather on Mount Washington (NH) and thought, “That sounds exciting.” I stumbled up the mountain with little training, learned a ton, and got hooked.

Why I keep doing it
It’s about the people and the stories. I’ve logged 33 peaks with 17 friends and counting. I’ve seen mountain rescues, laughed a ton, wandered through some of the most beautiful places in the U.S., and stacked up adventures for a lifetime.
